Our New Home

This week has been exciting because we actually began meeting and getting things rolling here in AD.  Yesterday we met for the first time to go over housing assignments, bank enrollment, and relinquished our passports for our visa processing.  In the afternoon, Home Centre provided buses to take us to their store to begin shipping for furniture and housewares.  They are offering a great discount to those who would like to purchase items in their store.

Today those of us living in Abu Dhabi were loaded into buses and taken to our brand new apartment complex.  We are not located in downtown Abu Dhabi but rather in Khalifah City A.  There is a lot of construction going on in our area but over the next year we will be living in a wonderful all inclusive little community.  The health club facility is directly across from our apartment and is free to all residents.  It should be up and running in a month or two.  Our apartments are a week or two from being finished.  We were able to visit our actual unit and received our door keys today.

I am attaching pictures of the apartment we were assigned but I have asked for a transfer to another apartment within the complex with a balcony.  These floor plans seem to be a little more open and I explained in my request that it would be nice since the kids will be visiting during their vacations and a 1 bedroom of this size would be a little cramped.  If the transfer is not granted we will still be delighted and blessed to live in such a nice new complex along with all the other teachers who were placed in the Abu Dhabi area.

Tomorrow ADEC will be taking those teachers placed out west and in Al Ain to visit their new homes so I will have a lazy day.  I hope to hit the pool and relax a little more.  Wednesday we are scheduled for our health testing which should finish up the week.  Each day is such an adventure.  We feel very blessed to have been offered such a great adventure!
